Pre & Post-Natal Physio Prospect, Adelaide
Are you an expectant or new mum? You can trust our dedicated team of physiotherapists for safe and effective pre-natal and post-natal physiotherapy, empowering you to maintain strength and mobility throughout your pregnancy and beyond. From your first consultation we’ll learn about your pregnancy journey and provide recommendations tailored to you and your unique pregnancy.
-
Experiencing sharp pain in the front of your pelvis, lower back, or hips? SPD and pelvic girdle pain are common as your ligaments relax during pregnancy. We use targeted stabilisation exercises, advice and hands-on release techniques to keep you moving comfortably.
-
This sharp wrist and thumb pain is frequently caused by fluid retention during pregnancy or the repetitive motion of lifting and nursing your newborn. We manage this through ergonomic advice, localised soft tissue release and taping.
-
As your centre of gravity shifts during pregnancy, and as you spend hours nursing, rocking, or carrying your baby postpartum, your upper body takes a heavy toll. We provide postural release techniques, hands on treatment, dry needling, and strengthening exercises to alleviate the tension between your shoulder blades and neck.
-
Even months or years after a cesarean section, scar tissue and internal adhesions can cause a pulling sensation, lower back pain, or restricted mobility. We utilise specialised scar mobilisation and desensitisation techniques to restore tissue flexibility and comfort.
-
Whether you are experiencing leaking when you sneeze, a feeling of heaviness (prolapse), or pain during intercourse, you do not have to just "live with it." We offer highly confidential, conservative rehabilitation to restore the strength, endurance, and coordination of your pelvic floor.
-
It is completely natural for your abdominal muscles to separate to make room for your baby. If the gap remains postpartum, we use functional testing and a progressive core-loading program to help you safely rebuild tension across your midline without risking further strain.
-
Want to join our post natal pilates classes? We ask to please book a post natal appointment with one of our physios if you are past 6 weeks post partum.
In this appointment your physio will ask questions about your pregnancy and your birthing experience including any complications. They will then assess any issues, pain, check abdominal separation and your pelvic floor to make sure you can safely return to physical activity.

Absolutely. We know finding childcare can be stressful, especially in those early months. You are more than welcome to bring your baby, along with their pram, capsule, or a play mat. If you need to stop to feed, change a nappy, or settle your baby during the session, we completely understand and will work around your needs.
-
Leaking, pelvic heaviness, and pain are incredibly common experiences after pregnancy, but they are also highly treatable. We talk about these symptoms all day, every day!
-
Your comfort and consent are our top priorities. An assessment should not be painful. We will clearly explain every step of the process beforehand, and you are in complete control the entire time. If you are ever uncomfortable, or if you simply prefer to start with an external assessment and discuss your symptoms first, we will fully support your decision.
-
Yes! Exercising while pregnant is great to stay healthy and active while growing your baby. With careful assessment of your current strength and your obstetric history we can create a highly specific, pregnancy-safe exercise plan. After your pre-natal physio appointment you will leave knowing exactly which movements will protect your baby, support your body, and keep you feeling strong.
