Running Assessments
Prospect, Adelaide
Unlock your true potential and run injury-free. Our comprehensive 45-minute running assessments are conducted by our running specialist physiotherapist, Abbey, as she has completed additional training in running rehabilitation.
Together with your physiotherapist, you will develop a personalised prevention and management plan aimed at improving resilience, addressing minor niggles early, and keeping you running consistently and pain-free with confidence. At the end of your assessment you’ll get takeaways to implement into your routine immediately.
-
We start by understanding your running history, current training load, and any past or lingering injuries. Then we dive into how we can help with your specific goals, whether you are new to running, completing your first 5km or training for a marathon.
-
Next, we assess how your body moves as a whole. We evaluate your posture and movement patterns to identify muscular imbalances that can contribute to premature fatigue, reduced performance, and overuse injuries that interrupt your training.
If you've experienced the same injury more than once and haven't been sure why it keeps coming back, this part of the assessment is often the most revealing. It helps uncover the underlying movement patterns and imbalances that may be driving those recurring injuries, so they can be addressed at the source.
-
To help improve your running we may give you some strengthening exercises to help support your running load as well as advice and movement modifications.
-
At the end of your session, we provide an actionable plan to help you run pain free. This may involve targeted strength and mobility suggestions, movement modifications and footwear recommendations tailored to your needs.

Why get a running assessment?
Running should feel enjoyable, not something that constantly leaves you battling aches, pains, or setbacks. Whether you're heading out for a few social kilometres, training for your first event, or chasing a new personal best, the way you move plays a big role in how comfortably and efficiently you run.
A physiotherapy running assessment takes a closer look at your unique running style, strength, mobility, and movement patterns to uncover what's helping-or holding you back. Through a comprehensive assessment, we can identify movement patterns that may be affecting your performance, contributing to recurring injuries, or limiting your efficiency.
Whether your goal is to run pain-free, prevent injuries, improve your efficiency, or simply enjoy running more, we'll work with you to create a personalised plan that keeps you moving confidently and progressing towards your goals.
